Steps for New Credit Students
1. Application
A. Complete an application in the Campus Center Admissions Office or download a copy at www.umpqua.edu, and pay the $25 application fee. See Home Admissions link to the left.
At the same time:
B. Students interested in Financial Aid should contact the Financial Aid Office and begin the application process.
C. Submit official transcripts from other college(s) to UCC
Admissions.
2. Placement Test
Take the free placement test, which is offered on a walk-in basis in the Counseling Center located in the Campus Center. Fees will be charged for re-testing.
3. Advising
A. Following the placement test, an academic advisor will interpret the results, answer questions and help schedule classes. A professional advisor will answer additional questions you may have regarding starting college, college resources and your career options. Professional
counselors are also available to all students to assist with personal issues, which may be barriers to college success. The placement test, transcripted college courses, and recommendations from instructors may be used to place you in the appropriate classes.
B. Next you will meet with a member of your new academic department to get acquainted and to learn more about your major. A department representative will review and approve your schedule so you may register.
4. Registration
Register on a walk-in basis and make arrangements to pay for classes (See the academic calendar printed each term in the class schedule, and on the web for dates and deadlines.)
5. Orientation
Attend the New Student Orientation Workshop the Friday before the term begins. Check schedule for dates.
