24/7 Convenience:  Take your classes online in the comfort of your own home or in your company's training facility.  This certificate is available fully online.  You'll never need to come to our campus to take your classes.

Description:  This 10-class certificate is fully approved by the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC).  Often viewed as an industry credential within the retail food industry, earning this certificate will help you to realize your personal and career potential.  You'll also earn college credit that you can potentially use towards more advanced educational programs such as an associate's or bachelor's degree.  Some students even go on to eventually earn a master's degree.  Please note that Umpqua Community College is on the quarter system and that credits are awarded as quarter credits.

Classes:  The certificate has the following 10 classes.

  • BA206 Management Fundamentals or SDP 109 Elements of Supervision (3 credits)
  • BA249 Retailing (3 credits)
  • SDP208 Human Resources for Supervisors (3 credits)
  • BA211 Principles of Accounting I (3 credits)

Cost:  WAFC-member employers may offer tuition assistance or tuition reimbursement for some or all of your certificate classes, so be sure to check with your supervisor about this.  If you are a non-resident student and are employed by a WAFC-member employer, UCC has arranged for in-state tuition for your Retail Management Certificate classes.  An estimated cost for a 3-credit class is ~$298.50.  Textbooks are extra.  Check with your instructor or program advisor for textbook information as early as possible so that you can shop for the best deal on your textbooks(s).

How to Get Started:  There are three easy steps to take to get started.
