Help Build Our Future Now
Revenue Pie Chart - Click to EnlargeHelp us to reach our goal of raising $8.5 million* to give students from Douglas County, Southern Oregon, the Pacific Northwest and beyond an education that prepares them for the future. The new Health, Nursing, & Science Center will complement our core educational strengths, allow us to supply graduates to fields that have need and provide facilities that will promote quality teaching and learning. Do you want to become a supporter of our cause? The following will help convince you that we are taking the right steps to building our future now.
* Another $8.5 million of matching funds is available from the state if we reach our funding goal of $8.5 million. That would give UCC a total of $17 million to complete this project. This is our final opportunity to utilize the state's matching funds. If we are unsuccessful in this fund drive, the matching funds will be reallocated to another part of the state. If we are successful, the jobs associated with the building construction would bring a needed boost to our local economy.

Total Grants, Contributions and Pledges
For nearly 50 years,
Umpqua Community College has produced some of the best nurses in the state. They are well-prepared, compassionate, motivated professionals that shine in their field. They provide top-notch care locally and around the country, giving patients the support they need in the most desperate times.
It’s time to give something back.
UCC’s nursing facilities were built in 1971. The spaces were never meant to accommodate the demands of training modern nurses. While we still produce the best in the state, we need to provide them a training center worthy of their accomplishments.
The Health, Nursing, and Science Center will include:
- Nursing Skills Lab
- Dental Lab
- Chemistry and Biology Labs
- Geology and Physics Labs
- Anatomy and Physiology Lab
- Faculty Offices
- Conference and Work Rooms
It will be home to the following programs:
- Registering Nursing
- Practical Nursing
- Medical Mediation
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Dental Assisting
Where the Jobs Are
According to the Oregon Employment Department’s 2013 Job Vacancy Survey, the health care and social assistance industry accounts for one out of every five vacancies, more than any other industry sector in the state. In Southwest Oregon, those vacancies jump to one in four.
Our Track Record
98 percent of graduates from UCC’s Practical Nursing program pass their licensing exam.
87 percent of graduates from UCC’s Registered Nursing program pass their national licensing exam.
“Many of the nursing students who are taught and trained at UCC become lifelong health care workers in local facilities. Community members who visit local hospitals or doctors’ offices are likely to meet a previous UCC graduate. The public has come to trust that new graduates are qualified to care for them in an intelligent and considerate manner, and should continue to expect this quality of service. Supporting the Health, Nursing, and Science Center promotes excellent care close to home.”
- April Myler, UCC Nursing Graduate and Instructor
