Winchester -- Umpqua Community College and the Roseburg Rotary proudly present the Indian Rotarian Study Exchange group at UCC’s Swanson Amphitheatre on Wednesday, May 13 from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. This three-person performance will dazzle you with their authentic dance and colorful costumes. Afterwards, there will be time for questions and answers to the delegation regarding India’s culture, economics, politics, etc.
The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 45 who are in the early stages of their careers. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas.
On May 13, the group is touring the UCC campus, sitting in on several classes and presenting their dance performance and open forum.
The event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in Jacoby. For more information, contact the Whipple Fine Arts office at 440-4691.
If you are interested in doing a more in-depth article/interview on the group, please contact June Davies at 440-4628 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I will send the bios of the participants and a contact number from the Rotary.
