Students learn art of stage makeup

Winchester— The Oregon Musical Theatre Festival at Umpqua Community College is offering a workshop, “Stage Makeup” on Monday, July 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jacoby Auditorium at Umpqua Community College. Cost is $38, and the instructor is Melody Mackintosh. To register, call 440-7744 and ask for course number 14913.

This three hour workshop, hosted by Oregon Musical Theatre Festival Scenic Designer Melody Mackintosh, is designed to introduce and practice the technique of applying makeup for the stage. You will learn facial anatomy, the balance of light and shadow, how to plan and apply special effects (perfect for Halloween), corrective and character makeup. Much of the class time will be spent actually applying makeup.
