Criminal Justice

Start Your Degree in this Exciting Field at UCC

Umpqua Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Law Enforcement related majors are offered at SOU (Criminology and Criminal Justice), PSU (Administration of Justice) and WOU (Corrections and Law Enforcement). This course of study has been aligned with these universities to ensure the transferability of these credits to a four year major in criminal justice. Students should consult their UCC advisor or the Division Chair in the Health and Safety Services Division for any special requirements of the college or university to which they will transfer. The length of this course is 20 months.

Completion could lead to employment as:

    Police Officer
    Corrections Deputy
    Parole / Probation Officer
    Sheriff
    Deputy Sheriff
    Juvenile Corrections Officer
    Loss Prevention Officer
    Criminal Investigator

Program participants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Not have been convicted by any state or federal government of a crime, the punishment for which could have been imprisonment in a federal or state prison.
  • Be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation.
  • Be capable of passing a series of basic physical agility tests.
  • Possess a valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
