'New Works' at UCC Gallery

The Art Gallery at UCC announces New Works, an exhibit of artwork recently acquired for the college’s permanent art collection.

An opening reception to celebrate the new artwork was held Feb. 13 at the gallery, which is located in the Whipple Fine Arts Center on UCC’s main campus, 1140 Umpqua College Road. The evening is free.

New Works features 37 art objects created by 24 contemporary artists. The selection process involved a task force of eight, comprised of college administration, faculty, staff, and students. More than 1,100 works of art by 115 artists, all with active studio practices in the Pacific Northwest, applied for consideration. Five of the selected artists are from Douglas County. The selected artists are:

UCC’s Permanent Art Collection began nearly 30 years ago. The intent of the collection is to promote and document the diverse modern artistic traditions of the Pacific Northwest.
